At QuTec Pershore Ltd, we take great pride in supporting the next generation of engineers through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
A Passion for Engineering
From the week commencing 23rd of June 2025, we were pleased to welcome Robbie Brown, an enthusiastic A Level Student from RSA Academy Arrow Vale in Redditch, Worcestershire, for a one-week work experience placement.
Robbie is currently completing his first year of A Levels in Engineering, Combined Science, and Food Science. With a strong interest in the engineering sector, inspired in part by several family members working in the field, Robbie approached his time with us with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a desire to learn.
️ A Structured and Insightful Programme
To ensure a rich and engaging experience, the QuTec team developed a comprehensive work experience programme covering all key areas of the business. Throughout the week, Robbie shadowed and supported various team leaders, gaining first-hand insight into the operations of a modern precision engineering company.
His experience included exposure to:
Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Contract Review, Stock Control and Inventory Management, ✅ Quality Assurance and Compliance, Production Design, Planning and Delivery, Goods In/Out and Transport Logistics, Financial Control and Accounting Systems
Robbie also spent valuable time with QuTec’s Directors, learning about strategic decision-making, operational leadership, and commercial responsibilities.
As part of the programme, he used a variety of internal systems including CAD design software, ERP platforms, and financial tools, gaining a real-world understanding of how a Sheet Metal Fabrication and Metal Pressing business operates from design to delivery.
✨ Creative Application in Engineering
A key highlight of Robbie’s time with us was the opportunity to apply his learning creatively.
Over the week he, drafted a social media blog post promoting QuTec’s work and values and designed and manufactured a custom award plaque using our in-house CNC machinery, including our laser cutting systems and press brakes.
This hands-on project gave him practical experience with Laser Cutting and Metal Pressing, while reinforcing his understanding of real-world engineering processes. In addition, Robbie explored QuTec’s welding operations, observing both MIG and TIG welding, essential techniques in the fabrication of complex, high-precision components.
Supporting Future Talent
QuTec is proud to contribute to educational initiatives that align with local sixth form and college development goals. We view placements like Robbie’s as a valuable opportunity to inspire, mentor and invest in the engineers of tomorrow.
Hosting Robbie was a genuine pleasure. His positive attitude, curiosity and willingness to get involved impressed every member of the team. We hope his experience has further strengthened his passion for engineering and given him a clearer vision of his future career path.
We look forward to continuing our partnership with local schools and colleges and will remain committed to promoting excellence in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Laser Cutting, Welding, and Precision Engineering.
